*--Iris Y. Cruz, Ph.D.

Iris Y. Cruz, Ph.D., completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Central Florida. In her current role as Assistant Director of the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Programming Office, Dr. Cruz oversees clinical services provided to UCF students who are experiencing negative consequences associated with alcohol and/or other substance use. Additionally, Dr. Cruz is responsible for the clinical training and supervision of doctoral-level psychology students and counselor master's-level students who provide evidence-based substance use intervention services, with a focus on overall health and lifestyle balance.


*--Beth Hammons

Beth is a clinical psychology doctoral student who began working at the Alcohol and Other Drug Office in 2007. She is in her fifth year of her doctoral program and is working on a dissertation project examining a culturally-tailored alcohol intervention. Beth currently serves as a clinical provider to mandated and voluntary students.


*--Karen Grippo

Karen is a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Trainee who began working with the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Programming Office in the Summer of 2008. Karen completed her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2004, and she is currently an advanced student in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at UCF. Karen also has extensive previous clinical experience with college student populations, and with alcohol and substance abuse treatment. Karen currently serves as a clinical provider for both mandated and voluntary students.


*--Abigail Fried

Abi is a clinical psychology trainee who began working with the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Programming Office in fall 2008. She currently serves as a clinical provider of services targeted for mandated students. Her current research interests include substance abuse and intervention.


*--Lindsey Neblock

Lindsey is a Master of Arts Counselor Education Trainee who began working with the Alcohol and Other Drug program in January of 2009. Her current research interests include expressive arts therapy with pediatric oncology patients. She has worked with the Child development program at the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida and volunteered at Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital working with children using art therapy, music therapy and bibliotherapy. In the future, she hopes to continue her work with children (early childhood to adolescence) within a hospital setting or by working or creating her own non-profit organization.

*--Stephanie Spies

Stephanie is a Masters of Arts Counselor Education Trainee who has worked with the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Programming Office since May 2006. She has experience in prevention and peer education. She is currently the project coordinator for AlcoholEdu, Alcohol Screening and Good Sport/Ambassador programs.
